Short boots are often more appealing than long boots – especially if you’re anything like some of the team here at Discount Equestrian and you have been blessed with curvaceous calves! We also believe that short boots make a fantastic gift for an equestrian, owing to their versatility.
Among the many benefits of short riding boots is the fact that they can be easily transferred from stable to saddle to the shop and beyond.
* Brogini® Pavia Jodhpur Boots
These boots are stylish and durable – their quality shines through! We particularly liked the adaptability of these jodhpur boots; not only are they safe to ride in, but they also look smart when paired with jeans for a great everyday ensemble. It is advisable to wear these boots in for short periods of time before spending all day in them, however, because you’ll need to wear them in to optimise your comfort.
This is not your traditional jodhpur boot design – the endurance boot is increasing in popularity, and this boot has shown us why. We were impressed by how tough this boot is, offering a stable performance in the stirrups and an equally great experience whilst walking long distances across challenging terrain. The high insteps were surprisingly supportive, preventing discomfort even after hours of continuous wear. Another feature of these boots that we found fantastic was the wicking properties on offer; no stinking, sweaty feet – even after hours of wear!
* Rhinegold® Elite Mustang Riding/Yard Trainer
Another innovative product, these riding and yard trainers are perfect for people who work with horses and need a short boot that transfers effortlessly from stable to saddle. Not only are they stylish and suitable for vegans, but we also found these boots incredibly comfortable with their breathable yet sturdy design. One minor hiccup we had was wearing these boots in winter weather or working in wet conditions; it is advisable to save these trainers for warmer weather and drier conditions.
* Dublin® Elevation II Zip Jodhpur Boots
These boots are supremely comfortable! With an extra cushioned layer, these boots are brilliant to wear all day long. The sole of these boots offers considerable grip, even in wet conditions – in fact, we found these boots extremely secure despite uneven terrain. We also appreciated the zip at the front of these boots, especially during winter months when we had to wear an extra pair of socks to keep our feet warm.
* Mark Todd® Kiwi Waterproof Boot
We thoroughly enjoyed testing these boots. They’re practical in terms of both wearability and durability. These boots are waterproof, making them ideally suited for yard work and riding in wet weather. Though they’re also easy to pull on and take off, as well as sporting excellent grip on the sole of the boot – which makes them feel sturdy without feeling too ‘bulky’. If you’re in search of great, all-round footwear, this is the boot you’re looking for!
* Rhinegold® Elite Indiana Lace-up Paddock Boots
These lace-up boots look extremely smart in brown or black, as their modern design meets sophisticated style. They’re easy to put on and take off, and we found these boots incredibly comfortable with the option to tie them as tightly as required to feel secure. An energy return sole allows these boots to be worn all day without ending up with aching calves – perfect for busy competition days!
* Tonics® Space II Paddock Boot
Loaded with impressive features, we believe these fantastic paddock boots are state-of-the-art! First of all, we appreciated the X-Static® lining of these boots, which has both antibacterial and anti-odour effects; no more smelly feet after hours of wear. Secondly, these boots have a reinforced toe cap, heel, and side panels to protect your foot – especially useful when walking across uneven, stony ground. Last but not least, these boots are extremely comfortable, with a cushioned insole and anti-slip outsole.
* Premier Equine® Virtus Leather Paddock Boot
The traditionaly designed paddock boots had the team torn! A great choice for an everyday, comfortable short riding boot. The boots are designed with a sculpted ankle support for your daily equestrian duties on the yard and in the saddle. Manufactured from good quality European leather and feature a robust YKK zip, which enhances the fit and easy removal of the boot.
* HyLAND® York Synthetic Zip Jodhpur Boots
Despite being manufactured using synthetic materials, these boots look like real leather. The zip-up fastening at the front makes these boots easy to fit, even over an extra pair of socks, and they look incredibly stylish with their cutting-edge design. We discovered that these boots offer an effortless transition from stable yard chic to smart-casual, and we especially liked the ankle support they provide.
* Tuffa® Fjord Waterproof Jodhpur Boots
The Sympatex® waterproof membrane in these boots makes them capable of withstanding the most challenging environments – here’s an explanation of the waterproof membrane, “Sympatex® is unique. Unlike other waterproof membranes, it is a non-porous material providing high moisture transmission, which allows your feet to breathe whilst still remaining dry. Sympatex® is also resistant to clogging from dirt and oils, so moisture transmission can continue despite harsh external outdoor environments.” These boots are an excellent investment, as they’re super durable and look absolutely fantastic. We also appreciated the fact that they’re available in both black and brown. However, these boots do require considerable upkeep to maintain their water-repellent coating.
