Anatomical girths have been designed to allow the saddle to sit back off the horses shoulders which frees up the scapula but allows the girth to sit in the correct location and line up with the girth straps on the saddle. It is ideal for horses with big shoulder movements. Anatomical girths can be seen in all varieties of girths from Dressage to stud girths and in both long and short varieties allowing them to be used with standard and mono flap saddles
Years of research have led to incredible advancements in girth configuration, as we become more aware of equine anatomy and continue to learn about their unique requirements. An anatomical girth is shaped specifically to distribute pressure across a wider surface area, which alleviates pressure points created by traditional girths. Through the easing of pressure around the girth area, sensitive horses – who dislike their girth being tightened – tend to accept anatomical girths with far less resistance. The shape of an anatomical girth provides space for your horse to move more freely, by allowing for an increased range of leg movement without compromising on the security of your saddle. Another benefit of anatomical girths is that they’re padded, which further enhances your horse’s comfort. Many anatomical girths have extra features too, like D-rings, to permit the use of training aids.
