Side Reins for Horses & Ponies
Side reins have been a training aid of choice for equestrians for decades, if not centuries. While they are not suitable for use while riding, side reins are incredibly beneficial if used when lunging your horse because they encourage your horse to concentrate, to find their balance, and to work in a comfortable outline by use of a steady contact. Side Reins attach to either the girth straps of your Saddle or to one of the side rings on your lunge roller.
Side reins are sold in pairs. They are typically made from either leather or nylon. You will notice that one end has a clip and the other end has an adjustable buckle. However, side reins should never be over-used as they can encourage horses to lean on the bit and can force your horse to have an unnatural head carriage, which can cause discomfort. Here at Discount Equestrian, we highly recommend consulting with a qualified riding instructor prior to using side reins for your horse – or you can contact our friendly, experienced team for advice!
We want to offer the best service at the best price possible so we will match the price of our competitors. Find out more
