Jodhpur Boots
Jodhpur boots, Paddock Boots or Short Riding Boots are probably the most versatile and widely used boots in the horse riding world. Jodhpur Boots for Men, Women & Children
Jodhpur boots, Paddock Boots or Short Riding Boots are probably the most versatile and widely used boots in the horse riding world. Unlike long riding boots, jodhpur boots are first and foremost shorter. Jodhpur boots have been around since the 19th century and were originally used by polo players as they are more convenient. The same applies today, they are easier to take on and off, which is also what makes them more convenient when you need to switch boots for working in the yard. The name came from the jodhpur trousers, or Jodhpurs, with which the jodhpur boot is typically worn with. Jodhpur boots are also a more affordable option to long riding boots.

Paddock Boots and Jodhpur Boots Comparison
The names Paddock Boots, Short Riding Boots and Jodhpur boots or somewhat interchangeable but technically Jodphur boots and Paddock Boots have some differences. Paddock Boots were originally designed more for yard work, as they have a thicker sole, usually rubber these days, with perhaps additional grip – they are a little more substantial. Paddock boots tend to have a thicker sole, but they also have a better grip to help with muddy terrain. They usually have a zip at the front or rear and perhaps elasticated lases up the front which are more for show than performing a function. Jodhpur boots on the other handle are usually a little more refined, less bulky, with a typically smooth sole. They are usually a more simple elasticated pull on jodhpur boot with no zip or laces, often called a Chelsea boot. They are more suitable to go with your Showing outfit where a rider will perhaps use jodhpur clips to prevent your Jodhpurs from riding up your leg.
Both types of boots are designed to come a little over the ankle, making them flexible yet supportive. Both have a low heel and are suitable for Horse riding. The reason why jodhpur boots are considered better for riding is because they are made of finer leather and have a thinner sole. Finer leather can allow more feel so that the rider can give more refined aids (cues) to their horse. Typically, short riding boots are worn with half chaps or gaiters. Both are designed to give the illusion of a long riding boot but are often used for comfort purposes (stirrup leathers can leave marks on the rider’s legs due to pinching so can be uncomfortable).
