Gag Horse Bits Online
There is a huge variety of gag bits designed for an array of applications. While gag bits may – at first glance – appear similar to snaffle bits, in reality they couldn’t be more different! While gag bits consist of a mouthpiece with rings either side, the bit rings tend to have extra holes that allow for cheek pieces and reins to be fitted dependant on the desired bit action. For example, the Dutch gag typically has four rings either side of a mouthpiece, which enable you to select a rein setting to suit your horse’s way of going – the lower the ring, the stronger the bit’s action; as the leverage it produces acts more strongly on your horse’s poll. It’s important to note that gag bits are not competition legal in all disciplines. If you’re considering the use of a gag bit, we highly recommend consulting with an experienced, qualified riding instructor – alternatively, please contact our friendly Discount Equestrian team who would be happy to provide advice and recommendations.
We want to offer the best service at the best price possible so we will match the price of our competitors. Find out more
