Discover Our Horse Bit Range
Developments in communicative aids between horse and rider have led to bits being created to suit almost every horse.
While Discount Equestrian strives to provide the highest quality bits on the market, we do advise that you obtain bitting advice from fully qualified professionals, such as riding instructors, before deciding which bit will best suit your horse.
Along with snaffles, pelhams, and gags – straight bar or jointed – with loose rings, full cheeks, and curb chains, we stock many bit accessories such as roundings, bit guards, and curb chain guards. If you cannot see what you need, please feel free to contact our friendly Discount Equestrian team – we’re always happy to help!
Prestigious equestrian brands in our fantastic Horse Bits range include Acavallo®, Castle®, Elico®, Ezee®, Happy Mouth®, Hy®, JHL®, John Whitaker®, Korsteel®, Kincade®, Lorina®, Mark Todd®, Neue Schule®, Sprenger®, and more.
For a flavour of the fabulously innovative bits to be discovered at Discount Equestrian, here are some of the current bestselling products in our Horse Bits collection:
Neue Schule® Team Up Loose Ring – “The Team Up is an ergonomically modernised French Link Bit. A comfortable mouthpiece promotes better performance, while the lozenge is designed to share the tongue contact area with adjacent loops, to give a smoother feel over your horse’s tongue. The double joint allows more flexibility, ensuring clarity and allowing for independent rein aids.”
Sprenger® Dynamic RS Eggbutt Snaffle Bit – “These bits encourage your horse to accept the bit more easily. The ergonomically formed mouthpiece lies perfectly in your horse’s mouth, resulting in a soft, even pressure across the entire tongue area, encouraging your horse to relax their jaw. In addition, this bit supports contact with the corners of your horse’s mouth in an effective way, helping your horse maintain an elegant head carriage. The centre joint is angled forward – a characteristic feature of the KK ULTRA – and the fine Eggbutt design makes this bit gentle yet effective. The mouthpiece is made of Aurigan, an innovative material that activates the chewing activity of your horse to help relax their jaw. This DYNAMIC RS bit allows for effective communication between horse and rider.”
Acavallo® Mullen D Sensitive Bit – “Due to unprecedented demand, Acavallo has broadened its collection of Sensitive Bits to include a Pelham Bit in three versions: Standard, Mullen, and Wave; and two ‘D’ Bits in two versions: Mullen and Wave. Horses love Acavallo bits for a variety of reasons: they are made of an innovative, anti-allergy plastic material instead of a heavy, cold metal or metal alloy; due to their integrated, flexible steel cable reinforcement, these bits allow soft, yet secure control of your horse; the one-piece design of mouthpiece and rings prevents one-sided squeezing or pinching of their tongue or jaws, as well as eliminating painful irritation of the palate. This bit is made in Italy.”
Full Cheek French Link Eggbutt Snaffle – “The Full Cheek applies slight poll pressure when rein aid is employed, and prevents the bit from being dragged through your horse’s mouth. A French Link lays across your horse’s tongue and bars, eliminating the nutcracker action. Suitable for use in dressage competitions, and exceptionally popular for training green horses.”
JP Korsteel® Blue Steel Jointed 3 Ring Dutch Gag Bit – “This bit boasts a fine, hand-polished, blue steel finish that emanates a taste that’ll both be enjoyed by your horse and stimulate salivation. The curved design reduces the nutcracker action, alleviating pressure on the tongue and bars of your horse’s mouth. This bit is designed to prevent contact with the roof of your horse’s mouth. Another element of this bit is to provide you, the rider, with varying levels of leverage and poll pressure, depending on the needs of your horse – for instance, the lower ring provides the most leverage.”
